Swapan Dasgupta – Running with the Hare, Hunting with the Wolves?

March 8, 2014

(Most Hindus are naive and historically it has been easy to CON them. Simple slogans – “Garibi Hatao”, “Aam Admy” is what it took to fool them. Other simplistic slogans conning many Hindus include “Right”, “Center Right”, and these are often covers for maliciously peddling SickuLiarism and anti-Hindu hate, while feigning understanding and sympathy. These perversions result in half baked and ignorant efforts to describe India’s problems, prescriptions that are not rooted in native realities, and destined to fail.  Many of the people shaping these anomalies define themselves  based on western frame works – as right of center, or conservative, or classical liberal, or libertarian etc. Insightful would tend to call such people as Sickuliar Right or HINO (Hindu in Name Only) or BINO (Bharatiya in Name Only) or IBCDs (Indian Born Confused Desis) or simply confused desis. Let us define these people and the anomalous positions they are projecting as SickuLiar Right, for convenience and also because  many of them seem to have discomfort asserting their native identities in public space. Cunning among them wear a native facade exceedingly well (Mein Bi Hindu Hoon Deceit), but the mask slips as you scrutinize their positions on substantive issues. Here we catch Swapan Dasgupta while his mask is slipping. Not a surprising media crooks like Rajdeep Sardesai etc introduce Swapan Dasgupta as “Rightist”, “BJP sympathizer” etc. Best selling Author, Rajiv Malhotra has a lot to do with the masks slipping from the faces of closet SickuLiars. Rajiv’s work has resulted in organized efforts at abusing/undermining/demonizing him)

Writing in Open Magazine, Swapan Dasgupta (SD) pens lots of canards. The goal of course is to confuse further the already bewildered Hindus. This post was a quick review on the Swapan piece.

SD writes

As someone firmly committed to the dismantling of protectionist barriers, I argued that the media could hardly claim special status.

At a superficial level, SD’s take on media looks a reasonable take. Let us examine this further. AB Vajpayee actions, listening to such half baked wisdom, resulted in India’s main stream media becoming what it is today – corrupt, controlled by dubious and a den for crooked. To understand the effect of dismantling that SD cites, read on about one of Delhi’s media mughals – NDTV Prannoy Roy.

The real issue when we are dealing with the economy as always is the national interest, and creation of level playing field. Apart from the government, incumbent businessmen do try to impose self-serving protectionist barriers often under the cover of “free market”, and “right to choice” shibboleths. For eg – check out Bill Gates specious defense for GM food.

Knowing Sadanand Dhume – Nastiness Ad Nauseum?

September 2, 2012

image

Sadanand Dhume (SD) writing in American makes a pitch that the Indians in the US should vote Republican Party. The shallowness and factual short comings in his position are being highlighted here. One can also get a glimpse of the agenda SD types push.   SD writes

And in general, Republicans have greater clarity about the threats democracies such as India face from the rise of an authoritarian China and the resurgence of radical Islam.

Dhume is deliberately muted on xn fascist evangelism and its threat to democracy. Apart from subverting state apparatus under Sonia Maino, Christian evangelist initiatives have seen an over drive converting naïve natives, and driving a malicious demographic offensive in large parts of India. Insidious evangelist conversion is a zero sum game and remains a greater threat than radical Islam in undermining native Indian well-being – as far as scale goes, today, Islamic radicalism is restricted to radicalizing Muslims; Christian evangelist initiatives go deeper in terms of their impact and subversion. Influential republicans have tended to back evangelist agenda. While Christians encourage Hindu versus Muslim narrative, christians at least since 1500s, have played a significant if not dominant role in shaping India’s destiny.

Others still may simply prefer the gaudy identity politics of the Democratic Party to the GOP’s quieter acceptance of all as Americans.

Juvenile attempt by Dhume here to hide Republican party’s “Christian” identity politics?

The overwhelming majority of Indian-Americans are economic refugees who fled the wreckage of Nehruvian socialism for greener pastures.

Dhume deliberately omits here the enabler of economic abyss – nehurivan sickularism. And that Indian poverty was an outcome of Islamic and much more significantly xn imperialisms.

That both Jindal and Haley tend to wear their conversion to Christianity on their sleeves obliquely sends the message to some that the largely Hindu and Sikh Indian-American community may not be entirely welcome.

Dhume has resorted to malicious obfuscation here. Nimrata Randhawa was not a typical Christian convert. She was a proud Sikh. Even her marriage followed Sikh procedures. Reality of pervasive Christian intolerance in polity and smear innuendos made the proud Sikh reluctantly acknowledge herself as a Christian.

By nominating a Mormon to run for the presidency, the GOP has punctured the myth that it belongs only to fundamentalist Christians.

Irrelevant straw man pitch by Dhume here. GOP nominating a Mormon is different from GOP nominating a Rajiv Malhotra. While some Christians may consider Mormon to be less/un Christian, most Hindus/Sikhs, let alone Christians, would see a Mormon with their belief in bible and christ as Christian enough.

Moreover, no reasonable person can gainsay the fact that America’s prosperity and proud tradition of religious liberty owe their existence to a society built on a bedrock of Judeo-Christian values.

Dhume’s gloves are out. Prosperity and Liberty as outcomes of xn values is sophistry at it nastiest. Dhume skates on thin ice here and falls flat. Dhume uses “gainsay” instead of “deny”.  Did he think subconsciously that his charlatan-giri here would not get noticed? A reasonable person just needs to consider the following questions to unplug Dhume’s chicanery here: Isn’t islam a uber-judeo-xn ethic? Will judeo-xn values take America to a medieval hell-hole? And has liberation theology got nothing to do with judeo-xn values? Was there biblical justification of segregation and slavery and sending natives to settlements? “Judeo-xn values” sophistry pushed by the pretentious is a stinking lemon if there was one particularly in the light of christian resistance to Science and the efforts to stop and undermine teaching of evolution. Readers should notice the similarity between Dhume gloves and Amartya Sen take on xn schools.

Closing Comments: Binary stereotypes and sophistry – small/large govt, pro/anti choice, and ‘bipartisanship is good’ type narratives pushed in the US have limited utility and often help camouflage reality. This piece is not to value judge Romney or Obama. Jimmy Carter et al are as “Christian” as they come. Evangelist goals received strong support in Clinton administration as well. An American, including the Hindu would be well off making their voting decision based on the ideas presented, track record of the candidates, influential party stakeholders and chose the better option. Christian extremism remains a factor in the US polity and undermining that would mean good for the Americans. Fox TV/Sarah Palin type “family values” is euphemism for “christian values”; while Sean Hannity etc try and work up a frenzy on “Big Government”, what they censor is their position for “Big God”, a slippery path with a track record of causing incalculable harm to humanity, no different from Shariah hell-holes.

Tailpiece: There is a small section of motivated and pretentious HINOs often with links to dubious moneybags that parrot out of context xn west republican/conservative lines for India– secular/center right etc. Most of this agenda peddlers are quintessential sepoy types of another variety and often anti-Hindu. The gullible Hindu is the audience for this chicanery and disinformation.

B Raman catches Saba Naqvi, Outlook Distorting His Views

January 16, 2011

In native Bharatiya Dharma, deceit manifested for doctrinal goals is a sin. Among others, MK Gandhi wrote about the importance of Satya in the discourse. In the asuric & sickular narratives, ‘means’… justfy the ends.

If you understand the above, you can make sense of the distortions carried out by Saba Naqvi and Outlook Magazine. Saba Naqvi ended up twisting the telephone  interview of B Raman, Retd Additional Secretary, RAW. Worse Begum Saba Naqvi attributed thoughts to B Raman which he never made..Malicious that. Not surprisingly, B Raman was appalled and issued a public rebuttal in his blog-post, tweeted about it.
